About the role
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking previously sworn police officers to join its force serving MTA Bus, Metro, Light Rail, and MARC Train/Commuter Bus systems. The position requires a valid driver's license and a recent driving record meeting MTA standards.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including work history and criminal records check, polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation
- Pass drug and alcohol screening and physical agility testing
- Meet the minimum standards of training as mandated by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission
- Work variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
Requirements
- Age: At least 21 years old
- Citizenship: United States citizen
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate
- Licenses: Valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in Maryland
Qualifications
- Recertification: Must be able to be recertified by MPTSC within 1 to 5 years of separation from previous department/agency
- Driving Record: No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years; no more than 3 moving violations in the past 5 years; no more than 4 current points

Pay
The credited salary ranges up to (3) years of service starting at ($77,150 - $85,061). Less than (3) years of credited service ($77,150 - 81,011).
Schedule
Variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends based on the needs of the Maryland Transit Administration.
