MTA Certified Police Officer

About the role

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking previously sworn police officers to join its force serving MTA Bus, Metro, Light Rail, and MARC Train/Commuter Bus systems. The position requires a valid driver's license and a recent driving record meeting MTA standards.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including work history and criminal records check, polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation
• Pass drug and alcohol screening and physical agility testing
• Meet the minimum standards of training as mandated by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission
• Work variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed

Requirements

• Age: At least 21 years old
• Citizenship: United States citizen
• Education: High school diploma or GED certificate
• Licenses: Valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in Maryland

Qualifications

• Recertification: Must be able to be recertified by MPTSC within 1 to 5 years of separation from previous department/agency
• Driving Record: No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years; no more than 3 moving violations in the past 5 years; no more than 4 current points

Pay

The credited salary ranges up to (3) years of service starting at ($77,150 - $85,061). Less than (3) years of credited service ($77,150 - 81,011).

Variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends based on the needs of the Maryland Transit Administration.
