About the role

Responsible for presenting and explaining credit union products and services to members and assisting them to utilize these products and services. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with prospective and current members as well as representing the credit union and its products in a positive and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Sells and cross-sells products and services based on member needs to meet assigned goals.
  • Processes financial transactions for members, including:
    • Opening and closing accounts
    • Issuing checks
    • Processing deposits and withdrawals
    • Issuing certificates, drafts, and other negotiable instruments
    • Opening and closing safe deposit boxes and IRA accounts
    • Issuing ATM/debit cards and PIN numbers
  • Responds to routine member inquiries regarding account operations, access to services, account discrepancies, and assists members with lost, stolen, or forged items.
  • Performs teller duties as needed.
  • Verifies signature cards and initiates check orders.
  • Verifies ATM/debit card maintenance forms.
  • Provides general credit union information.
  • Interviews members, completes credit applications, and makes recommendations for approvals or denials consistent with policy to Loan Officers.
  • Processes loan applications, including:
    • Disbursement of loans
    • Preparation and completion of related documents
    • Packaging and mailing of loan packets
  • Advises members of loan approval or denial and processes loans or denials.
  • Processes loan deferral requests, refers to appropriate approval level, and advises members of decisions.
  • Assists in reaching credit union volume and insurance penetration goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, conscientious, and group-oriented personality.
  • Open to change and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the credit union's computer system for performing basic input/output tasks.
