MSAD 33: Welding and Fabrications Instructor

About the role

Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derby's in the state!. The district has two (2) schools under one roof, Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. The district is also home to the St. John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD33, MSAD27, and the Madawaska School Department. Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum for welding and fabrication courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and educational objectives.
• Instruct students on various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW, as well as oxy-fuel cutting and plasma cutting techniques.
• Demonstrate proper welding and fabrication procedures, emphasizing safety protocols and best practices.
• Provide hands-on training and guidance to students in the use of welding equipment, tools, and materials.
• Evaluate student progress through practical assessments, written examinations, and project-based assignments.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and skill development.
• Collaborate with other instructors and staff to integrate welding and fabrication concepts into interdisciplinary projects and activities.
• Stay current with advancements in welding technology, materials, and industry trends to enhance instructional content and methods.
• Offer mentorship and support to students interested in pursuing careers in welding and related fields, including guidance on certification and job placement opportunities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology or related field preferred.
• Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) required.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credentials are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in welding and fabrications, with demonstrated expertise in various welding processes and techniques.
• Previous teaching or instructional experience in a vocational or educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
• Proficiency in Google Suite for Education and instructional technology tools.
