About the Role

Under general supervision, contributes to the design and delivery of instructional programs to blind/visually impaired students. Provides educational instruction and uses a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors. This position provides substitute dormitory instruction or student management aide support at MSAB.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment (Parapro or Paraeducator) demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language, writing, mathematics or readiness for each OR the ability to pass the Parapro or Paraeducator assessment within the first 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge or experience working with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver
  • Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and to maintain records and documentation
  • Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide direction to residential students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience/background working with blind/visually impaired students

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to walk/stand for at least eight hours

Shift & Schedule

  • Overnight Shift (12am-8am)
  • Monday - Friday

Pay

  • $21.59 - $28.94 / hourly
