mRNA Process Development Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a Process Development Scientist to join the messenger-RNA (mRNA) process development team. The successful candidate will contribute to early and operational tech development, focusing on the production and analysis of RNA constructs, and carrying out preparative and purification chromatography.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in vitro transcription (IVT) and purification (chromatography, tangential flow filtration) experiments.
  • Execute analytical methods including capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), Akta chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
  • Process and summarize data for team members and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare buffers, reagents, and stock solutions following established recipes and SOPs.
  • Maintain an updated lab notebook, order materials, and support lab equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Uphold the highest standards of lab safety.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field with 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or M.S. degree in the same fields with at least 6 months of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience with molecular biology and RNA biochemistry methods, including IVT.
  • Experience with tangential flow filtration (TFF), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), Akta chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
  • Experience with good documentation practices and electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Benchling).
  • Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow SOPs, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation and enthusiasm to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing processes for RNA-LNP, protein, mAB, or AAV therapeutics or vaccines (experience with RNA therapeutics is preferred).

Pay

$32.00–$41.00 per hour based on education and related experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
