About the Role

Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors daily work activity to ensure that complete, accurate, and compliant chart preparation and insurance authorization has been performed prior to expected visit. Contacts the patient/guarantor by phone when necessary to schedule procedures and obtain or verify all demographic and insurance information, making updates or corrections as appropriate. Maintains acceptable accuracy and productivity rates, documenting all information in the appropriate system fields and/or account notes.

Assures that all pre-certification requirements are met on a timely basis, including notation of authorization numbers and follow-up on missing authorizations. Contacts patients to advise them of their financial responsibility 24 hours prior to service when authorization cannot be obtained. Prepares the patient chart, including all necessary pre-procedure testing, History & Physicals, consent, and physician’s orders in preparation for the patient’s arrival.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma preferred; medical assistant or other clinical-related education highly preferred
  • Experience working in a clinical setting such as a medical practice required
  • Basic knowledge of health insurance; experience with prior authorization preferred
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to identify and address issues proactively

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $22.00–$26.00. Final compensation is determined based on education, experience, certifications, and geographic location.
