Pay
$36.40 - $46.92 per hour. $10,000 sign-on bonus to eligible hires.
Summary
Performs MRI procedures according to protocol and age-specific needs, including patient preparation. Maintains and monitors patient environment, adheres to safety procedures and contributes to the security and maintenance of the unit.
Responsibilities
- Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
- Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent.
- Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
- Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
- Performs exams while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
- Transfers images to other locations as needed.
- Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
- Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
- Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment.
- Potential exposure to radiation, minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment.
- Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.
Physical Demands
- May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
- Two plus years’ experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – preferred.
- Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player.
- Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately.
- Ability to excel in a very fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectations.
- Strong communication skills & professional demeanor.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification with Registry in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) or current American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
- Current license from state medical board (if applicable).
- Current CPR certification.
