MRI Technologist II or III
Job Summary
The MRI Tech III possesses an advanced skill level and functions within the MRI department, performing a variety of responsibilities and additional tasks. They meet all the criteria of an MRI tech II and perform four additional advanced responsibilities as outlined in the position summary.
Responsibilities
- Adapt to changes in technology and new imaging techniques.
- Perform safe and effective imaging practices for patients with and without medical implants, including pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices, and electronic pumps.
- Enforce MRI safety protocols, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Operate independently with judgment, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects on human tissue, and medical implants.
- Provide compassionate care for patients with claustrophobia, using appropriate mechanisms to assist them.
Requirements
- Graduate from a school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Experience: 5 years of progressive clinical experience in MR.
- Demonstrated superior technical knowledge and expertise in cross-sectional anatomy.
- Advanced MRI-specific certification by ARRT, compliant with governing body guidelines.
- BLS certified.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate from a school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT.
Experience: 5 years of progressive clinical experience in MR.
Knowledge/Special Skills: Advanced MRI-specific certification by ARRT, compliant with governing body guidelines.
Safety Requirements: Must be screened prior to hiring to ensure safety in the MRI department work environment. Medical implants with components that are not permitted into the magnetic field may restrict an applicant from working in the environment safely. Considerations include all electronic devices (e.g., pumps, pacemakers, hearing devices, and all devices run with a battery or Bluetooth).
