MRI Technologist I
About the role
MRI technologists operate MRI scanners that take images of patients’ bodies to assist with diagnostic testing. They are responsible for presenting clear images to physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis to a patient. MRI technologists ensure they follow safety standards and explain the MRI process to patients. MRI technologists monitor patients during scanning. They also monitor equipment functions and ensure they capture clear images so physicians can provide an accurate diagnosis. They also recognize abnormalities and irregularities in images and understand the difference between a quality image and one that needs to be retaken.
Responsibilities
- Present clear images to physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis to a patient.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Explain the MRI process to patients.
- Monitor patients during scanning.
- Monitor equipment functions and ensure clear images are captured.
- Recognize abnormalities and irregularities in images.
- Differentiate between quality and non-quality images.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Qualifications
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors, work outside in temperature extremes, work from elevated areas, work in confined/cramped spaces, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, squat, perform pinching operations, perform gross motor activities, perform firm grasping, perform fine manipulation, reach overhead, perform repetitive motions, lift and carry 50 lbs., lift/lower objects 50 lbs., lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exert up to 50 lbs. of force, maintain 20/40 vision, correct, in one eye or with both eyes, see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance, match or discriminate between colors, determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, have good peripheral vision capabilities, maintain hearing acuity, with correction, perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, work overtime as required, work in a latex safe environment.

Minimum Training and Education
