MRI Technologist, Hospital

About the role

Methodist Hospital is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our Radiology team. In this role, you will perform high-quality and accurate diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging in accordance with established protocols, interact with patients, clinicians, and staff professionally, and apply knowledge of MRI safety, emergency protocols, and procedures. You will also educate and train others on MRI equipment operation, procedures, image quality, and exposure techniques while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with accuracy and adherence to protocols.
• Interact professionally and courteously with patients, clinicians, and staff.
• Apply MRI safety knowledge, including emergency protocols and procedures.
• Comply with regulatory standards and perform necessary tasks to maintain compliance.
• Educate and train others on MRI equipment operation, image quality, and exposure techniques.
• Operate patient transfer devices, security systems, fire alarms, 3D workstations, emergency equipment, power injectors, PCs, printers, voice documentation devices, fax machines, and photocopiers safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proficiency in EMR processes and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
• Train and maintain competency in new equipment and technology as required.

Requirements

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry is required and must be maintained.
• Advanced Registry in Magnetic Resonance (ARRT (MR)) required within 12 months after first shift working solo within the modality.
• In lieu of ARRT (R), an ultrasound or nuclear medicine certification may be considered based on business need.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 6 months and continuously maintained.
• Problem-solving skills and discretion with patient information.
• Computer knowledge or experience in specialized imaging systems, such as three-dimensional reconstruction.
• Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure patient safety and appropriate care.
• Ability to operate various equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., patient transfer devices, emergency equipment, 3D workstations).

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional specialized training or experience in MRI.
• Experience in MRI specialty areas (e.g., Cardiac, Breast, Prostate, 3T) is preferred.

Schedule

Primary 2nd shift, may include holidays, call, and weekends.
