MRI Technologist
Hourly Wage Estimate: $36.90 - $55.35. Factors such as skills, experience, and comparison to other employees may influence the actual salary. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of the range. This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
About the Role
As an MRI Technologist with Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, you will demonstrate the ability to obtain quality MRI images of patients while complying with MRI safety guidelines for patients, staff, and self. You will operate MRI equipment safely, including screening all patients for contraindications, and perform all necessary computer operations. You will render patient care in a professional and courteous manner, prepare the MRI scanner, perform quality control tests, and assist in administering medication or contrast agents during procedures. Additionally, you will review each exam for technical accuracy, maintain a clean work area, and uphold strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.
Responsibilities
- Obtain quality MRI images of patients while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Operate MRI equipment safely, including patient screening for contraindications.
- Perform necessary computer operations related to MRI procedures.
- Render professional and courteous patient care, identifying patients using proper protocols.
- Prepare MRI scanner and conduct quality control tests.
- Assist the radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medication, contrast agents, and patient care during MRI procedures.
- Review exams for technical accuracy and identify anatomical orientation on all images.
- Assist with additional duties as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.
- Complete and maintain educational requirements as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Required: Minimum of 1 year experience as an MRI Technologist.
- Preferred: Multiple years’ experience as a certified staff MRI Technologist.
- Education:
- Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) OR ARRT-MRI Technology (6-month grace period) OR American Registry of MRI Technology (ARMRIT) (6-month grace period).
- Required: BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through American Red Cross (30-day grace period).
- Preferred: American Society of Radiologic Technology or Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology.
