About the role
This position produces diagnostic MRI scans, assists the radiologist and referring physicians in MRI procedures, and ensures patient safety and care while representing the Purpose of Renown Health.
Responsibilities
- Understand and apply technical skills and advanced physics to operate the MRI scanner efficiently, safely, and accurately.
- Provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety needs of patients ranging from infants to geriatrics.
- Operate MRI scanners from various manufacturers, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Maintain accuracy in MRI scans and communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
- Identify and prioritize tasks, respond to simultaneous requests, and remain courteous and professional under pressure.
- Maintain high standards of diplomacy and confidentiality (HIPAA).
Requirements
- Completion of an AMA-approved two-year Radiology program with an AS degree in radiology, or a four-year program with a BS RT, preferred.
- Training in Radiology specialties with three to five years of recent experience, preferred.
- Active MRI registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) at time of hire.
- BLS certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
Qualifications
- Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A thorough knowledge of MRI physics and its application to magnetic resonance principles.
- The ability to manipulate factors to produce diagnostic MRI scans, including T1, T2, T2*, proton density, etc.
- A working knowledge of contrast media, their dosages, precautions, adverse reactions, and appropriateness.
- Skills to understand radiology filing and clerical functions.
- A thorough knowledge of 3D anatomy and imaging planes as required by the radiologist.
- A working knowledge of hospital department computer systems and applications.
- A thorough knowledge of MRI implant clearance and EMR documentation, utilizing multiple verification resources and direct communication with device manufacturers.
