Responsibilities
- Exhibits working knowledge of all MRI equipment and procedures.
- Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
- Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
- Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
- Captures and documents all pertinent information, including patient history, tech initials, and exam data entry fields.
- Coordinates MRI schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
- Corrects and reports accidents, incidents, and safety hazards.
- Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
- Aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
- Utilizes good body mechanics when moving patients.
- Adheres to infection control practices.
- Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service calls through the call center.
- Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the MRI Department.
- Affordably assists in other areas of the department as workload permits.
- Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
- Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.
Qualifications
- MRI courses required; Associate's Degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred.
- Sufficient previous experience to have thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, and procedures, along with knowledge in physiology and human anatomy and MRI experience.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, R.T. (MR- Magnetic Resonance Imaging) (ARRT) certification.
- Demonstrates ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations, and planned procedures.
