Responsibilities

• Exhibits working knowledge of all MRI equipment and procedures.
• Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
• Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
• Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
• Captures and documents all pertinent information, including patient history, tech initials, and exam data entry fields.
• Coordinates MRI schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
• Corrects and reports accidents, incidents, and safety hazards.
• Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
• Aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
• Utilizes good body mechanics when moving patients.
• Adheres to infection control practices.
• Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service calls through the call center.
• Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the MRI Department.
• Affordably assists in other areas of the department as workload permits.
• Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
• Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.

Qualifications

• MRI courses required; Associate's Degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred.
• Sufficient previous experience to have thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, and procedures, along with knowledge in physiology and human anatomy and MRI experience.
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, R.T. (MR- Magnetic Resonance Imaging) (ARRT) certification.
• Demonstrates ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations, and planned procedures.
