MRI and Radiology Technologist- (Casual/ On-Call)

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates and adjusts equipment; prepares contrasts and/or materials; cleans and disinfects equipment/tables in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
  • Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use; arranges immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning; adjusts shields; selects appropriate imaging device.
  • Obtains patient history, explains procedures to patient, addresses patients’ concerns, and follows established pre-screening policy and procedure.
  • Prepares patient for MRI or radiographic procedures, positions patient as appropriate for prescribed procedure, and assists patients at completion of procedure.
  • Follows prescribed procedure in the administration of MRI or radiography.
  • Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the course of the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to clinical staff, supervisor and/or ED physician.
  • P Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Acquires appropriate examination and transfers or prepares hard copies from images; transfer images to E-Rad storage.
  • Evaluates MRI and/or radiology scans for technical quality and appropriately label.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation.
  • Performs general office duties: maintains stock supplies, assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase, records procedure codes for billing purposes, and schedules patients.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and document errors or equipment malfunctions; escalate issues and concerns to engineer, supervisor, and/or radiologist.
  • Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Coquille Valley Hospital, and other local, state, and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of accredited school and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - ARRT (R), ARRT (CT) and ARRT required. (MR) is required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Maintains state license as a general radiographer and MR in the state of Oregon.
  • Experience: Training and experience: Unless otherwise indicated, one year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification required.
  • Maintenance of current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for HealthCare workers.
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves, Pb aprons) as needed.
  • Able to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
  • Able to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Able to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
  • Able to understand medical/surgical terminology.
  • Health Requirements - In good health and able to work without restrictions as evidenced by Health Statement.
  • Compliance with Supplemental Health Care’s pre-assignment and medical requirements including: current TB screen, or Chest X-ray and questionnaire if proof of positive TB screen; Measles/Mumps/Rubella immunizations or titers indicating immunity; and any additional state or facility medical requirements.
