Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a MRB / Liaison Engineer III - A220 to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL. This role is responsible for the development and approval of solutions related to aircraft non-conformities requiring engineering expertise during final assembly, flight line, and delivery activities.

About the role

The MAP Engineering Support (Structures) position is accountable for all engineering activities of primary and secondary aircraft structure (Airframe) linked to non-conformities and concessions raised during the FAL US manufacturing process. Solutions must align with valid SLA content (timeline, quality, and completeness), Airbus Design Principles, and continuous Airworthiness requirements.

Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take aircraft from concept to customer delivery, working with production teams on assembly aspects including technical information, quality control, maintenance, and health & safety across flowlines and flightlines.

Working environment

The role is based at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility on ‘Airbus Way’ at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. Opened in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and supports Airbus’ global competitiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Establish improvements for onsite processes and perform MRB (Material Review Board) audits.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience to obtain delegation from the Design Office for engineering activities under MRB.
  • Execute intermediate to complex engineering assignments across multiple engineering fields.
  • Conduct research to investigate, re-evaluate, and apply engineering results to solve practical problems.
  • Identify and report defects and deficiencies in work performed by others.
  • Prepare progress reports and recommend changes to plans and specifications for special conditions.
  • Develop innovative engineering techniques and generate documentation for approval.
  • Review sections of documents prepared by others and recommend approval.
  • Manage small work packages.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier, and customer sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of related work experience, or a Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 8 years of related work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 6 to 8 years of demonstrated knowledge and competency for the level of experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of aerospace systems, including engine, fuel, pneumatic, APU, hydraulic, cabin systems, and advanced metallic/composite aerospace structures.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems and configuration management rules.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems with self-motivation and direction.
  • Ability to work across traditional boundaries and plan activities on short and mid-term bases.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in implementing and using indication, alert, and recording systems.
  • Ability to function independently and seek technical guidance for unusual assignments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to collaborate across teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Onsite: 100% onsite.
  • Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and hear sounds on the production floor (including safety warnings or alarms).
  • Speaking: Ability to speak in conversations, meetings, and deliver information.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate personal computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and related office equipment, as well as production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts) and electronic identification cards for building access.
  • Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for long periods during meetings or computer work.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
  • Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
