MRB / Liaison Engineer II- A220

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a MRB / Liaison Engineer II - A220 to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL. The MAP Engineering Support (Structures) position is responsible for the development and approval of solutions related to aircraft non-conformities which require engineering expertise and delegation to be resolved during aircraft final assembly, flight line and delivery activities.

About the role

The jobholder is accountable for all engineering activities of primary and secondary aircraft structure (Airframe) linked to non-conformities and concessions raised during the FAL US manufacturing process. The provided solutions must be in line with the requirements of valid SLA content (timeline, quality and completeness of the solution), Airbus Design Principles and continuous Airworthiness requirements.

Working environment

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Establish improvements of onsite processes, perform MRB audits (Bombardier Aerospace Material Review Board).
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience to obtain delegation from the Design Office to perform engineering activities under MRB.
• Execute intermediate to complex engineering assignments requiring familiarity with several fields of engineering.
• Conduct research into various fields of engineering to investigate, re-evaluate, and apply obtained results to solve practical problems.
• Identify and report on defects and deficiencies in work done by others.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Recommend changes in plans and specifications to suit special conditions.
• Develop innovative engineering techniques.
• Generate documentation for approval by others.
• Review sections of documents prepared by others and recommend approval.
• May be responsible for small work packages.
• Willing to travel up to 10% of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier, and customer sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related work experience or Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline, with 2 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• 3 years or demonstrated knowledge and competency for the level of experience required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in implementing and using indication, alert, and recording systems.
• Advanced knowledge of engine, fuel, pneumatic, APU, hydraulic, cabin systems, advanced metallic/composite aerospace structure.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of configuration management rules.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems.
• Ability to function on the basis of self-motivation and self-direction.
• Demonstrated willingness to work across traditional boundaries.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification preferred.

Skills

• Plans activities on a short and mid-term basis.
• May recommend improvements and solutions.
• Technical guidance is available to review work and obtain advice on unusual features of assignments.
