About the role

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior and Lead MP&P Technical Analyst (NDE) to join the Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Fleet Support team in Berkeley, MO. This engineering team supports space, commercial, and defense air vehicle programs, including 787, 777X, F-15, F-18, AV-8B, T-7A, T-45, MQ-25, KC-46, P-8, B-52, B-1, KC-135, Executive Transport platforms, Commercial Crew Transportation, Space Launch, and weapon systems.

The team is responsible for NDE Engineering supporting pre-production, current production, and post-production efforts, as well as supplier standup/certification, fabrication support/troubleshooting, fleet support, and NDE research and development for both internal and external customers. The chosen candidate will work onsite at the Berkeley, MO location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is required. A final U.S. Secret clearance post-start is required. This role is expected to be 100% onsite and may require up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods/approaches, such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic principles, to perform complex analysis and evaluation of parts, materials, processes, technology, or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability, and adherence to requirements and specifications.
  • Lead, coordinate, and conduct complex analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures.
  • Generate test plans, identify and categorize failure, determine root cause, and document results and recommendations.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead the proposal, development, and validation of revisions to procedures and specifications.
  • Determine suitability of parts, materials, and processes and coordinate resolution of complex issues with suppliers and customers.
  • Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as a subject matter expert.
  • Support continuous improvement of products and processes by leading the design, development, fabrication, testing, evaluation, and implementation of new concepts and technology.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Support the Team Lead and work statement, assist in defining strategies, and/or provide consultation.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • For Senior (Level 4): 6+ years of work-related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7+ years with a master’s, or 4+ years with a PhD.
  • For Lead (Level 5): 9+ years of work-related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 12+ years with a master’s, or 9+ years with a PhD.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in NDE/NDT engineering in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, defense, energy).
  • Experience with nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection).
  • ASNT Level 2 certification in multiple nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection).
  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams and a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical customers.
  • Strong understanding of materials behavior, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.
  • Experience with project management tools.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively across various geographical locations.
  • Knowledge of Catia V5 or equivalent CAD/CAM software.
  • Active/Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance is preferred but not required.

Pay

Summary pay range:

  • Level 4 (Senior): $80,750 - $109,250
  • Level 5 (Lead): $101,176 - $124,405

Schedule

This position is for 1st shift and is expected to be 100% onsite.
