About the role
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is looking for Experienced Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Specialists to support the In-Service NDT team based in Tukwila, WA on first shift. Our mission is to develop, implement, and sustain Non-Destructive Evaluation & Measurement technologies and processes for BCA Programs. We aim to be the recognized industry leader in Non Destructive Evaluation solutions that support product lifecycle sustainment and high-rate production. We modernize inspection methods to expand what's possible and deliver solutions that ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of Boeing products. The Nondestructive Testing Customer Support and Emerging Technology team provides certification and qualification services across the value stream for NDE. The team supports commercial and defense aircraft including: 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, & B1B. The team works to innovate and mature NDT technology for internal stakeholders and external customers. This team spans the entire product life cycle from product development to active airframe support and post-production test & evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Authors Non-Destructive Test (NDT) procedures
- Incorporates revisions authored by method Responsible Level III in the standard procedure review process
- Develops Computer Assisted Drawings (CAD) of specialized calibration standard
- Performs setup for non-destructive test or measurement equipment to calibration standards
- Composes procedure Figures providing information on inspection location, geometry, accessibility, probe/transducer placement, and notch signal response
- Provide emergent level III NDT support for Boeing's portfolio of commercial aircraft across the Puget Sound
- Reports potential adverse trends or anomalous results
Required Skills
- 5+ years of education and work experience in NDT (non-destructive test)
- Current certification from American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT)/NAS410 Compliant Level 3 in ET or UT
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Can provide documentation of certified NDT hours
- Ability to work variable shifts, overtime, and weekends as necessary
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Ability to work in confined spaces
Preferred Skills
- 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current certification from American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT)/NAS410 Compliant Level 3 in ET, UT, or RT with level 3 certification in at least one additional method is required (or certification as a level 3 in ET, UT, or RT with less than six months for eligibility for certification in at least one additional method)
- Experience as a Principal or Responsible Level 3 in ET, UT, or RT training level 3's within those methods is preferred
- Specialization in Phased Array UT, Shear wave UT, immersion UT, bubbler UT systems, and other advanced UT methods
- Specialization in Eddy Current Array, LFEC, MFEC, and other advanced eddy current methods
- Specialization in Film, CR, DR, and CT
- 1200 hours of Ultrasonic Testing (UT) with 600+ hours of Ultrasonic Shear-Wave Testing
- 1200 hours of Eddy Current Testing (ET) with 600+ hours of LFEC
- 1200 hours of Radiography Testing (RT) with 600+ hours of casting experience
- Proficiency with CAD Software
- Adept at developing UT, ET & RT techniques and inspection procedures

66 - 71 USD hourly
