Responsibilities

  • Lead mountain bike excursions by mountain bike or van, providing mountain bike information, instructions, and education to guests, including a safety briefing.
  • Ensure mountain bike safety by informing guests about First Aid and CPR certification, carrying a first aid kit, and educating them on crypto biotic soil and Leave No Trace guidelines.
  • Perform excursions in compliance with resort permit and US Forest Service standards, carrying a copy of the resort’s USFS permit and current CPR card.
  • Stay informed about local trail conditions, hazards, weather, and USFS changes to avoid permit violations, providing clear directions for guest safety.
  • Ensure each mountain bike is in good working condition, including brakes, proper sizing, and gathering necessary supplies (water, tools, pump, bike log, etc.).
  • Offer to take pictures of guests on the trail and encourage them to share compliments on social media.
  • Familiarize yourself with Trail House operations, including hours, retail items, bike shop, discovery center, and hiking/biking products.
  • Understand Enchantment Resort’s three pillars and basic products/services of each pillar.
  • Prepare for excursions by wearing a nametag and uniform, providing cold bottled water, verifying guest attendance, and ensuring signed electronic waivers.
  • After excursions, thank guests, clean bikes and vans (if used), and submit signed receipts to the Adventure & Activities Manager.
  • Report incidents or accidents to the Bike Chief and Adventure & Activities Manager, completing required forms from Safety & Security.
  • Complete required forms such as vehicle logs, mountain bike trail reports, and USFS reports.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled training sessions and meetings.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and keep bikes and storage areas neat and properly maintained.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform basic bike maintenance (suspension setup, seat height adjustments, flat tire changes).
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of mountain bikes, trails, and the local area.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Willingness to learn instruction methods.
  • Ability to lead guests in a safe and professional manner.
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, maintain a neat appearance, and communicate clearly and simply.

  • Ability to follow Department Standard Operating Procedures.
