About the role
The Motor Assembly Team Lead is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality assembly of motors and related components per approved NORD Gear assembly methods while ensuring all safety policies and practices are being followed.
Responsibilities
- Report daily production numbers.
- Conduct daily accountability meetings and kaizen board meetings.
- Communicate with 2nd shift to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
- Determine the daily schedule of the motor assembly cells and assign employees to the cells.
- Assemble and test motors to work order instructions.
- Troubleshoot problems associated with motor assembly.
- Work with the Customer Experience Department on any work order problems.
- Ensure proper training methods are being utilized throughout the department.
- Conduct and document proper training of employees.
- Provide input to the department supervisor regarding employee performance and assist with the preparation of performance evaluations.
- Work with the department supervisor to ensure company goals are being achieved.
- Maintain stock of MRO items for the assembly area.
- Monitor quality of work performed by the employees.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform tasks related to maintaining the 5S program (housekeeping).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Motor assembly or repair experience preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Understanding of lean principles.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand on feet and move around for up to 8-12 hours per day.
