Core hours: 1:45 pm – 10:15 pm (2nd shift). Hourly rate: $42.44.
Responsibilities
- Assign work, follow schedule, ensure work is completed on time, and resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as the link between the production floor, Quality, and Engineering functions.
- Assemble and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies of simple to complex aerospace products for customers including Boeing, Embraer, Gulfstream, Cessna, and Airbus.
- Work on electrical assemblies, soldering, and unusual tasks where standard methods may not be available.
- Assist operators as required and act as a liaison between Assembly, Inspection, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Planning.
- Apply technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical products with minimal guidance.
- Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies, ensuring proper tooling and documentation are used.
- Troubleshoot and resolve product non-conformance and performance test failures for hydraulic and electro-mechanical products.
- Set job priorities and determine workload requirements.
- Train new operators, assemblers, and technicians, and identify training needs for departmental personnel.
- Lead team meetings and set a positive example of employee conduct.
- Manage the overall workflow of the department and transact completed work orders throughout inventory locations.
- Assume the role of supervisor in their absence, including running daily production reports and escalating issues.
- Check and escalate issues with calibration, assembly, and test equipment as required.
- Drive and initiate process improvements within hardware and test equipment, including detecting and isolating performance discrepancies at each phase of assembly.
- Act as department representative in customer audits and visits.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Ten years minimum experience in aerospace assembly and testing of hydraulic or electro-mechanical control valves, including knowledge of hydraulic test equipment.
- One year experience assisting and/or leading teams or initiatives.
- Must reside within 50 miles of the Los Angeles, CA facility (no relocation benefit offered).
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) to comply with U.S. Government export regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in set-up and use of XY plotter, oscilloscopes, and pressure transducers.
- Solder certification.
- Electric Static Discharge (ESD) certification.
- Experience working in an FAA-regulated environment.
- Tool design experience.
- Previous experience leading teams or departments.
Skills
- Proficient in interpreting hydraulic and electrical blueprints, testing schematics, and verbal/written instructions.
- Working knowledge of shop, mechanical, and electrical test equipment and testing procedures.
- Ability to work with inspection gages, multimeters, force scales, torque wrenches, and production test equipment.
- In-depth product knowledge through testing and evaluation of electromechanical products to identify failures.
- Ability to retain knowledge of units produced and cross-train on various hardware/sub-assemblies.
- Strong communication and interaction skills with other departments and organizations.
- Ability to accumulate and record data to support process improvement ideas.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Required computer skills for processing and analysis of data.
- Ability to lead team meetings focused on process improvements.
