Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 2 years’ DE Underwriting experience with conventional and FHA loans; USDA/VA experience a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with an electronic mortgage processing system required (Encompass preferred)
- Must reside in a state in which Equity Resources is currently licensed
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills; ability to interact professionally with employees, vendors, and lenders
- Able to comprehend and follow complex written and oral instructions
- Ability to manage high-stress situations and work overtime as needed
What Your Day Will Look Like
- The primary functions of the Underwriter include approving saleable loans, underwriting all loans under FNMA, FHLMC, and FHA (may include USDA & VA) loan programs, maintaining knowledge of investor programs and overlays, and communicating any changes to staff.
- Duties may include monitoring pipeline daily and self-assigned preapprovals, making underwriting decisions based on risk assessment, delivering high-quality service with 24-hour turn times and timely updates to Mortgage Specialists, analyzing and reporting loan quality issues, and assisting other Underwriters with daily volume.
