Mortgage Technology Product Owner

Responsibilities

• Own the product strategy: define the vision, roadmap, and priorities for Kind's mortgage technology, keeping them aligned with business goals, customer needs, and industry trends.
• Create and manage a well-prioritized backlog with clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and deliverables that the development Pods can pick up and build without guesswork.
• Partner across IT, engineering, operations, compliance, and the business so mortgage technology ships seamlessly from origination through servicing.
• Gather feedback from internal stakeholders, customers, and industry partners, and turn it into product improvements that meet real market needs.
• Ensure solutions comply with relevant regulatory and security standards (CFPB, TRID, RESPA) and align with internal policy.
• Lead the full product development lifecycle, from ideation through launch, and drive continuous improvement after release.
• Apply Agile and Scrum practices to run sprint planning with the Pods, track progress, and keep delivery on time and on quality.
• Monitor product performance and usage after launch, identify what to optimize and where to scale, and manage technology, compliance, and security risks proactively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA or equivalent experience preferred).
• 5+ years in product management, focused on mortgage technology, financial services, or fintech.
• Strong understanding of mortgage processes and how technology transforms origination, servicing, and compliance.
• Proven experience managing the full product lifecycle, from ideation through implementation and optimization.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum: backlog grooming, sprint planning, and working hands-on with development teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain complex technology to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with mortgage technology platforms (LOS, POS, CRM) and industry-specific software, plus experience with integrations, APIs, or data-driven solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) in a mortgage context, and experience managing third-party technology vendor partnerships.
• Product management certification (CSPO, PMI-ACP) is a plus.

Pay

The starting base pay for this position is $125k/annually. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as: work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
