Mortgage Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversight of daily operations of the mortgage department and assigned teams.
• Leadership, coaching, and development of Mortgage Lenders and Processing staff.
• Review and approval of mortgage loan applications within delegated authority.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company lending regulations.
• Monitoring loan pipeline, productivity, and key performance metrics.
• Resolution of escalated client issues and management of complex loan situations.
• Building and maintaining relationships with real estate agents, brokers, and strategic partners.
• Analyzing financial data, credit reports, and risk factors to support sound lending decisions.
• Collaboration with Mortgage Sales, Underwriting, and Learning & Development teams to manage training programs and documentation.
• Ensuring adherence to all NCUA laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies.
• Preparation and presentation of performance reports and trend analysis to senior management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage lending or banking.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and loan products, including FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
• Solid understanding of lending laws, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.

Client Expectations

• Recent mortgage lending experience, preferably within a Credit Union or banking environment.
• Hands-on experience reviewing and approving mortgage loans.
• Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, and Conventional mortgage products.
• Experience with underwriting guidelines, regulatory compliance, and NCUA requirements.
• Comfortable managing complex loan scenarios while building relationships with members, real estate agents, and business partners.
