About the role

Solicits first mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, and developers. Works with customers to identify and secure appropriate mortgage loans. Develops and expands referral sources. Maintains regular contact with Realtors and participates in builder and developer meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Assists customers in identifying and securing a mortgage loan that meets their financial needs and helps them achieve their home ownership goals.
  • Develops and expands referral sources in the local real estate market.
  • Maintains regular contact with Realtors and attends builder and developer meetings to discuss lending options.
  • Collects and analyzes applicant's financial information to assess eligibility for a mortgage loan.
  • Interviews applicants and provides information about income, assets, investments, debt, credit history, property characteristics, and other relevant details.
  • Evaluates customer needs and recommends financial products that best meet their specific needs, explaining the risks and benefits of different loan alternatives.
  • Recommends terms and conditions for mortgage loans and engages in persuasive sales activity to encourage potential customers to do business with the company.
  • Participates in building and trade shows to network and forge new relationships.
  • Follows up with customers and prospective customers via phone and email to ensure they understand the loan process.
  • Performs administrative tasks related to loan origination, such as completing paperwork and preparing materials.
  • Attends company meetings as necessary and ensures loan originations comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures all documentation is completed in accordance with regulatory compliance.
  • Communicates with customers throughout the loan process to keep them informed and engaged.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 or more years recent residential mortgage lending experience, including experience in the local market.
  • Proven ability to develop referral sources from contacts and relationships outside the organization.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and make sound lending decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
