About the role

The Mortgage Consultant originates a variety of different types of loans focusing on servicing existing customers and first-time homebuyers. Responsibilities include engaging with consumers, managing loan pipelines, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to company-provided leads via phone, internet, direct mail campaigns, referrals, or other special marketing campaigns.
  • Determine consumer needs and offer appropriate products.
  • Manage loan applications from start to finish, collaborating with underwriting, processing, and other teams to ensure timely and accurate loan approvals.
  • Obtain necessary information for loan closings, including credit reports, income verification, and appraisals.
  • Avoid non-compliance with federal and state lending regulations, maintaining accurate and compliant documentation.
  • Provide superior customer service and meet individual monthly sales goals.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with the Newrez Code of Conduct.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of origination experience in the mortgage or banking industry.
  • Active NMLS license.
  • Solid understanding of appraisals, title reports, and product guidelines.
  • Maintain mortgage licenses through annual continuing education.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Ability to connect with borrowers and provide friendly, customer-service oriented communication.
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems (H2O), CRM platforms (Salesforce), and communication tools (Microsoft Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to maintain high levels of communication and urgency, returning voicemails within 24 hours.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrates careful decision-making skills.
  • Professional communication skills.
