Mortgage Consultant

About the role

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Mortgage Consultant to join our team! This full time position will focus on managing residential loan applications through internal portfolio deals and walk-in customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary customer service to walk-in and referred customers.
• Interview loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the merits of the specific loan request.
• Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method, repayment schedule, escrow accounts, workout situations and portfolio refinancing loans.
• Assist customers with mortgage servicing questions related to payment postings, escrow issues, etc.
• Support the credit control department by assisting with the restructuring or modification of past due portfolio mortgage loans.
• Advise customers concerning financial matters.
• Participate in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and enhance new business opportunities.
• Maintain the public reputation of the bank and corporation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• A minimum of one (1) year of mortgage lending, consumer lending or related experience.
