We are seeking a Monitoring and Event Management (MEM) Team Lead to join our team supporting the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a team of MEM agents and supervisors, ensuring excellent customer service and professional expertise.
- Oversee Event Operations Center (EOC) Facility.
- Develop and publish detailed monitoring technology standards with thresholds, frequencies, and alert types; periodically refine them based on FDIC business requirements.
- Configure the MEMT to enable the monitoring of FDIC Devices and CIs on a 24x7x365 basis from the EOC.
- Monitor Devices and CIs throughout the FDIC IT Environment for specific strings in required log files (text, XML, or other ASCII format).
- Oversee monitoring of Data Center CIs for availability, utilization, and performance:
- Monitor all Data Center CIs in accordance with FDIC Policies and Procedures and industry practices (to the port level where applicable) for availability and recognize all outages.
- Monitor utilization and performance of each Data Center CI on FDIC-established and adjustable frequency schedules with defined thresholds.
- Monitor the availability of applications (including external-facing and cloud-based FDIC applications) using synthetic transactions.
- Monitor the availability of jobs and processes that cross system boundaries using composite transaction monitoring, if requested.
- Oversee monitoring of Network CIs for availability, utilization, and performance:
- Monitor Network Service Devices for availability, performance, and utilization 24x7x365, including FDIC Devices and IaaS cloud-based environments.
- Collect relevant “health check” information regarding Network Service Devices.
- Monitor all Network Service Devices for availability and recognize all outages.
- Collaborate with FDIC and third-party providers to monitor utilization and performance of each Network CI on FDIC-established and adjustable frequency schedules with defined thresholds.
- Oversee monitoring of all FDIC Unified Communication CIs (e.g., PBXs, voicemail systems, gateways, dedicated video room equipment) on a 24x7x365 basis.
- Perform advanced fault detection, isolation, and all monitoring activities necessary to provide MEM Services.
- Perform advanced event detection, event isolation, and event correlation.
- Monitor all Unified Communication CIs and Circuits (to the port level where applicable) for availability, utilization, and performance.
- Perform capacity planning and forecasting, including providing analysis and planning reports.
- Oversee Event Management:
- Configure and manage the Alert Management Database within the MEMT.
- Perform event detection, event isolation, and event correlation.
- Validate tickets generated from automated polling, traps, and alarms.
- Handle priority 1 outage notifications.
- Use the MEMT to place impacted Configuration Items into maintenance status to minimize false positives.
- Oversee monitoring for cloud-based platforms.
Requirements
- Ten plus years of experience in Monitoring and Event Management Services, including at least 3 years in an IT outsourcing environment managing contractor personnel.
- Leadership and work assignment experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated experience supporting government agencies, customers, or contracts within federal environments, including the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Civil agencies, and military organizations.
- Prior experience supporting the same or similar contract, with an in-depth understanding of the customer environment, requirements, and operational landscape, is highly desirable.
- ITIL v3 Foundation Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
- Ability to receive a Public Trust clearance.
- U.S. citizenship.
Schedule
Day shift, Monday – Friday. May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs.
