About the role
This remote position leads the design, build, development, and cost control of tooling for the injection molding process. The Engineering Lead – Molds will travel to the Ontario, NY location as needed and serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, internal teams (Molding, Process Engineering, Tool Room, Quality, etc.), and external suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Technical lead for tooling within a cross-functional engineering team.
- Oversee, track, and coordinate tool design and build, including program kickoff, engineering changes, repair jobs, and customer transfer molds.
- Develop tool design concepts with tool designers and other engineering/production team members.
- Lead cross-functional Design Reviews to ensure customer and production requirements are met.
- Establish accurate timelines and progress reports for tool builds, sampling activities, and other engineering tasks.
- Monitor engineering aspects of mold tooling projects against quoted assumptions.
- Coordinate mold samples for qualification and first article inspection, ensuring customer approval needs are met.
- Serve as the key interface between ADDMAN and customers, participating in customer meetings related to tooling programs.
- Coordinate corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide engineering support for day-to-day production and operational needs.
- Review tool designs using CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3D CAD skills, preferably SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of GD&T and ability to analyze customer part prints.
- Analytical skills to assess problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to use statistical methods for process capability analysis.
- Strong communication skills for conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills; ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, write reports, and speak effectively to groups.
- Problem-solving skills: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

- Computer literacy: experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and application-specific software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, plus 1-3 years of relevant experience in injection mold design and build.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position is also acceptable.
Work Environment
- Exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, etc.).
- Ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit or stand as needed, with periodic walking on level surfaces.
- Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting to access documents or materials.
- Comfortable working in small confined spaces while following safety protocols.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
