Responsibilities
- Design and develop precision molds for injection molding, or other manufacturing processes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product designers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance, to ensure mold designs meet product specifications and production requirements
- Perform mold flow analysis and simulations to optimize mold performance, reduce defects, and improve cycle times
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for mold fabrication
- Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of molds to ensure functionality and durability
- Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues during production, recommending design improvements as needed
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control protocols
- Stay updated on advancements in mold design technology and manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in mold design
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and mold manufacturing techniques
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and creating technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing for prototyping
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
- Familiarity with CNC machining, EDM, or other mold fabrication processes
