Mold Prep

About the role

This position is responsible for the maintenance of production molds, including preparing molds for reuse, applying and buffing wax base coats, and ensuring molds are properly covered and stored.

Responsibilities

• Apply wax to new molds and buff to the proper finish.
• Strip old wax base coat from production molds as scheduled and apply a new base coat, buffing to the proper finish.
• Inspect returned molds for maintenance or repair needs and notify supervisor or lead.
• Prepare returned molds for production by dusting and buffing as needed.
• Cover prepped molds with plastic sheeting and tape securely.
• Place prepped molds in line for return to production.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Personal protective equipment (safety glasses with side shields, gloves, dust masks, or respirators as applicable)

Functional Factors

• Occasional moderate lifting (21-59 lbs) and heavy lifting (over 60 lbs).
• Repeated bending, kneeling, reaching over shoulder, and use of fingers.
• Ability to stand, walk, push, and pull for extended periods.
• Depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color.
• Rapid mental and muscular coordination.
• Both legs, hands, and eyes required; hearing (aids permitted).

• Work both outside and inside.
• Exposure to solvents (degreasing agents), fumes, smoke, or gases.
• Sticky, slippery, or uneven walking surfaces.
• Dust, vibration, and radiant energy.
• Unusual fatigue factors.
• Working around moving objects, closely with others, or alone.
• Working with hands in water.
