About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you'll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

This is a modeling and simulation engineering position where you will develop, validate, and maintain physics-based and empirical models of the Leo satellite power system. You will build simulation frameworks that predict battery state of charge, solar array power generation, thermal-electrical coupling, and power system degradation over the satellite lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain physics-based and empirical models of the Leo satellite power system
  • Build simulation frameworks to predict power system behavior
  • Correlate model predictions against on-orbit telemetry and iterate to improve fidelity
  • Develop degradation models using lab test data, manufacturer characterization, and flight data

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, 3+ years of experience developing physics-based or data-driven models, and 3+ years of proficiency in Python or Matlab.
