About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. The Lead Space Simulation Technician role involves driving continuous improvement initiatives, operating environmental test chambers, assembling tooling, leading team meetings, supporting training programs, and ensuring safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and develop departmental continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation.
  • Operate environmental test chambers (Thermal cycling, vacuum, HALT/HASS).
  • Lead process work and review output for quality and adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Assemble tooling and assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Lead daily team meeting facilitation, end-of-shift reporting, and coordinating efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  • Support new-hire training programs within your department and contribute to development and modification of training programs.
  • Develop training plans for your team and implement training programs within your department.
  • Drive safety standards and operations protocol while ensuring team compliance.

Requirements

  • 4/10s Shift: Sun-Wed 4 pm - 2:30 am
  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years relevant high traceability manufacturing experience (Aerospace / Medical, etc.)
  • 3+ years of hands-on work in test lab environment, using basic hand tools
  • 3+ years experience in a fast-paced production environment with Flight Hardware
  • 3+ years experience in environmental test experience performing at least one of the following: Vibration Testing, Shock Testing, Acoustic Testing, Thermal Testing, Thermal Vacuum Testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years prior leadership experience, to include leading teams, projects or people
  • Able to read, interpret and work from engineering documentation and/ or drawings
  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Ability to prioritize work in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Proper use and understanding of DMM, torque wrenches, calipers, and other type of measuring devices
  • Experience installing instrumentation such as accelerometers, thermocouples etc.
  • Understanding of 5S and lean principles

Pay

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
