MOCVD Engineer

About the role

onsemi’s semiconductor fabrication facility in Syracuse, NY is looking for a MOCVD Engineer to join the team. Our technology enables the next generation of power conversion, accelerating the transition to high efficiency, high power conversion solutions and inspiring new power system architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and qualify advanced MOCVD processes for wide bandgap and high power transistors.
• Lead projects focused on epi performance, process control, wafer characterization, and process qualification.
• Produce the epi wafers needed by fab colleagues to deliver the overall team’s program goals.
• Collaborate closely with process engineering, process integration, and device teams to deliver, sustain, and improve wafer attributes for device performance and yield.
• Contribute independently as a self-motivated and hands-on team member.
• Support program objectives with flexibility and a hard-working attitude.
• Drive processes from ideation through to qualification for production using a data-driven and detail-oriented approach.

This role reports to the Director of MOCVD Engineering.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience with compound semiconductor epitaxy process development and/or process engineering (industry experience with Aixtron MOCVD equipment is preferred).
• Project leadership experience with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with SPC, DOE, and/or FMEA is a plus.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $88,700.00–$142,000.00, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
