MOCVD Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Run MOCVD equipment to support production and development activities.
  • Load wafers into MOCVD tools and prepare systems for growth runs.
  • Start, monitor, and control epitaxial growth processes according to established recipes and procedures.
  • Ensure that process recipes and parameters are set up correctly and remain within defined specifications during runs.
  • Grow thin epitaxial layers of semiconductor materials such as Indium Phosphide (InP) and Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) for lasers and optical communication products.
  • Inspect and analyze data from completed growth runs to evaluate material quality and performance.
  • Identify issues affecting yield, uniformity, and overall product quality based on process data and test results.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process problems involving gas delivery systems, vacuum systems, electrical controls, and process performance.
  • Work proactively to minimize equipment downtime and improve tool reliability and stability.
  • Adjust process recipes and settings to enhance material quality, yield, and repeatability.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of manufacturing methods for semiconductor and photonics products.
  • Record detailed process data, results, and observations for each growth run.
  • Write reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other documentation to support consistent operations and knowledge sharing.
  • Track and report quality metrics, production metrics, and process performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams involved in semiconductor manufacturing, photonics, fiber optics, optical components, lasers, data communication, telecom, and wafer growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience working with MOCVD processes and equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with epitaxial growth of semiconductor materials.
  • Practical knowledge of Indium Phosphide (InP) and Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) materials and their use in semiconductor devices.
  • Experience operating Aixtron or Veeco MOCVD tools.
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing, particularly in photonics, fiber optics, optical components, lasers, data communication, telecom, or wafer growth.
  • Experience with semiconductor laser structures and related process requirements.
  • Strong understanding of MOCVD processes, including gas delivery, vacuum systems, and process control.
  • Ability to interpret process data and test results to diagnose issues and optimize performance.
  • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related technical field.
