Onsite Field Service Engineer, MOCVD

About the role
As an On-site Field Service Engineer, you will coordinate technical and administrative support activities at assigned customer locations under on-site service contracts or key account support. You will resolve technical and operational issues, perform data collection and root cause analysis, and provide regular updates to customers. This role acts as the first point of contact for customers, driving AIXTRON support and ensuring high customer satisfaction while representing company interests.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, warranty/service repairs, preventative and predictive maintenance, system monitoring, upgrades, and installations of AIXTRON reactors at customer sites.
- Act as a company liaison: provide status reports, respond to customer requests, address concerns, and advise on schedule changes or parts availability.
- Coordinate local technical support and serve as the main contact for account managers regarding status updates.
- Document all system problems and actions taken accurately.
- Meet with customers regularly to address issues and maintain reports on tool status, quality, and escalations.
- Train less experienced employees and customer representatives on equipment operations and maintenance.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing; occasional bending and squatting.
- May require working off-hours, including weekends, up to 12-hour shifts, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must comply with cleanroom contamination prevention requirements, including wearing appropriate apparatus (e.g., SCBA).
Requirements
- BS degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 3-4 years of experience in R&D and/or production within the semiconductor industry.
- Direct experience with compound semiconductor & MOCVD operations, maintenance, and hardware engineering is a plus.
- Proficiency in mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hand tools, multimeter, helium leak checker, and high-purity gas supply systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for training and company events.
