About the Role

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Absolutely necessary to properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
• Absolutely necessary to assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
• Absolutely necessary to follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
• Absolutely necessary to accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Absolutely necessary to properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
• Absolutely necessary to demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
• Absolutely necessary to patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
• Absolutely necessary to perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
• Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Forklift certification and experience
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Able to manage multiple priorities
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Able to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Able to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Able to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Pay

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $27.69 - $36.95.
