Mobile Service Technician (Salary Based)

Essential Functions

  • Independently complete basic, thorough, and advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles, including but not limited to, oil changes, tire rotations, warranty work, wire repairs, AC diagnostic/repairs, some suspension, brakes, and fuse box repairs.
  • Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models.
  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and clients on a daily and consistent basis.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis.
  • Be able to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components, and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS).
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology.
  • Be responsible for test driving and/or moving customer vehicles at residence locations.
  • Keep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occur.
  • Adhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules.
  • Ensure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

  • Two to three years of automotive dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician.
  • Ability to operate large commercial vehicles on a daily basis.
  • OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge.
  • Proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.
  • Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.
  • Firm understanding of mechanical repairs/services.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to create invoices and reports for services rendered, deliver and explain invoices to customers.
  • Comfortable with technology, including various mobile devices (payments, tracking, reporting).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask within multiple assigned responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, high energy, and a customer-focused perspective.
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail skills.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
  • Requires standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and stooping.
  • May require some driving and typing.
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
