Mobile Optometrist

About the Role

We are seeking full-time or part-time optometrists to provide mobile eye care services to nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Gainesville, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine areas of Florida. This role is ideal for optometrists passionate about serving the elderly population, particularly those with ocular pathology.

As a mobile optometrist, you will practice optometry to its fullest, often being the voice for patients who cannot express themselves. Patients frequently present with conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, blepharitis, and other eye diseases. You will be equipped with portable diagnostic tools, including OCT, fundus camera, b-scan, and visual fields, to diagnose and monitor these conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-scope optometric exams for elderly patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
• Diagnose and treat ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and infections.
• Utilize portable optometric equipment (OCT, fundus camera, b-scan, visual fields) for comprehensive eye care.
• See an average of 20-25 patients daily, with most exams being medical, short, and brief.
• Collaborate with an ophthalmic technician who assists with patient location, preliminaries, and glasses fitting.
• Work with a scribe for efficient note-taking during exams.

Requirements

• Active license to practice optometry in the State of Florida.
• Compassion for elderly patients and a strong interest in ocular pathology.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile setting.

Pay

$600-$1000 per diem (1099-Misc), with the ability to earn $150K-$200K annually through bonuses.

Schedule

No weekends. Most workdays are shorter than 8 hours.
