About the Role
Operates, inspects, and maintains all HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to achieve efficient operation and maximize equipment life. Ensures equipment is maintained safely and energy-efficiently, minimizing downtime through proactive repairs. Performs inspections and repairs on property interiors and exteriors, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, lighting, and related systems. Demonstrates technical expertise in one primary craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations, or Material Handling Equipment) while being multi-skilled in others to complete work assignments.
Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems and equipment.
- Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC systems, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interiors/exteriors, and production equipment.
- Study and become proficient with building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and other facility-related equipment.
- Conduct facility inspections and report conditions impacting client occupancy and operations.
- Complete hazard assessments and comply with all safety procedures, maintaining safe work areas.
- Identify and propose solutions to eliminate safety hazards.
- Maintain compliance with state, county, or city ordinances, codes, and laws.
- Complete all required safety training and practice defensive driving.
- Submit P-card receipts daily and update work order status in real time using CMMS systems (e.g., Corrigo).
- Escalate problems or issues to customers and managers in a timely manner.
- Attend work and safety meetings as required.
- Be available for on-call work and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in packaged HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
- Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or related craft skills (preferred).
- Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
- 3rd Party Certification (preferred).
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to perform vehicle safety inspections.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of system design and applications.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of computer applications such as Word and Excel (preferred).
Physical Work Requirements
- Lifting up to 80 lbs.
- Working from heights, including frequent climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and overhead work.
- Working in adverse conditions (e.g., extreme cold or heat).
- Driving for long periods of time.
- Climbing ladders with a 300 lb. weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.
- Climbing ladders up to 30 feet.
