Mobile Crisis Management Certified Peer Support Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis response for recipients 24/7/365.
  • Assess crisis, determine risk, mental status, and medical stability.
  • Provide face-to-face responses as needed.
  • Develop and revise crisis plans for new and existing recipients.
  • Obtain authorization for additional services after 32 units of service.
  • Complete daily full-service notes on the day of service.
  • Ensure documentation is completed in black ink and accurately reflects the day's events.
  • Coordinate movement across levels of care and discharge planning.
  • Monitor and manage presenting psychiatric and addiction symptoms.
  • Linkage to appropriate services, including transportation.
  • Supervise Peer Support Paraprofessionals.
  • Forward documentation to designated staff as required.
  • Support recipients' self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff and maintain positive relationships with recipients and families.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and consumer conferences.
  • Report changes in consumer conditions, family situations, or needs.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Be familiar with agency policies and procedures, including emergency services and medication administration.
  • Absorb HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate office equipment as necessary.
  • Keep up-to-date with required training.
  • Ensure consumer rights are met and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Current or former consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated recovery time between diagnosis and application as PSS.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Completed a 40-hour Peer Support Specialist training curriculum and have a valid certificate.
  • Completed additional 20 hours of relevant training.
  • Submitted two Personal Reference Forms.
  • At least one year’s experience in providing crisis management services in 24/7 response settings.
  • Holds a license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by a governing board regulating a human service profession (except nursing).
  • A Master’s prepared individual with a degree in a human service area with one year of experience.
  • A Bachelor’s prepared individual with a degree in a human service area with two years of experience.
  • A Bachelor’s prepared individual with a degree in an area other than a human service field with four years of experience.
