About the role
The MMCAP Financial Analyst - Accounting Officer Senior position supports MMCAP's business needs through research and financial analysis. Key responsibilities include evaluating program performance, budgeting, forecasting, allocations, rate-setting, and trend analysis.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate program performance and prepare financial reports
- Budgeting and forecasting for MMCAP's various business lines
- Allocations and rate-setting for different services
- Trend analysis across MMCAP's business lines and emerging services
- Monitor budgets by line of business and analyze financial data
- Compose and present financial information to non-technical groups
- Make informed recommendations and decisions based on financial data
Requirements
- Two (2) years of accounting, financial management, market analysis or related experience
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (may substitute for six (6) months of experience)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (may substitute for one (1) year of experience)
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices
- Ability to navigate financial accounting and reporting systems
- Ability to conduct high-level financial analysis using statistical tools and spreadsheets
- Problem-solving and organizational/planning skills
- Ability to review, verify, and interpret complex financial and operational data with a high degree of accuracy and precision
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to evaluate options, make informed recommendations, and determine appropriate solutions to complex financial scenarios
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a group purchasing organization (GPO), healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in public sector accounting processes, controls, and regulations
- Experience in State of Minnesota enterprise systems, such as SWIFT, SWIFT Data Warehouse, Document Direct, or other comparable systems
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, Power Query, macros, or complex formulas
- Proficiency in statistical tools or BI/reporting platforms (e.g., Crystal Reports, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments
