About the role
This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Boston Field Office, Area Port of St. Albans, VT, located in St Albans City, VT.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing complex administrative issues and recommending solutions to improve operational effectiveness.
- Planning and executing projects and studies to enhance mission support services and achieve organizational goals.
- Interpreting laws, regulations, and policies to resolve challenges and ensure program compliance.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities and implement process improvements.
- Preparing reports, guidance, and recommendations to support management decision-making and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
- All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English.
- You may be required to pass a background investigation.
- CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.
- Your conduct will be subject to the ethics rules applicable to all Executive Branch employees, and to CBP employees specifically, as well as the criminal conflict of interest statutes.
Qualifications
- Experience: You qualify for the GS-7 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Collecting and reviewing information to support routine administrative tasks. Assisting with basic process improvements by identifying areas for increased efficiency. Contributing to the evaluation of how policy changes may affect office procedures. Completing assignments by following established guidelines and instructions. Communicating procedural details to colleagues to ensure shared understanding.
- You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing administrative information to help resolve moderately complex office issues. Participating in efforts to refine or improve support services based on management objectives. Examining the impact of regulatory or policy changes and summarizing relevant findings. Applying established methods to address challenges involving conflicting or incomplete data. Coordinating with other program areas to ensure proper alignment of administrative activities.
