Mission Operations Support Specialist

Location: Chantilly, VA

Full-time, on-site role with up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS travel required.

About the role

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Mission Operations Support Specialist to join a select cadre of mission system operators supporting one of our customer's most important mission areas. The successful candidate will learn technical subject matter quickly to become fully approved as an operator on a multi-function contractor and government team, working both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities include attending program management reviews, technical exchange meetings, and vendor events across the United States. You will support broader team activities such as facilities, security, shipping, and logistics in coordination with customer project leaders. This role involves hands-on system installations, operations and maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of mission systems including antennas, shelters, and processing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate mission systems as part of an integrated team during field and CONUS-based missions for extended periods (up to 12 hours), including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Perform system installations, operations and maintenance, and testing of mission systems including antennas, shelters, and processing equipment.
• Conduct hands-on troubleshooting for pre-deployment exercises and operational readiness exercises; generate comprehensive reports on findings.
• Interact with engineering, targeting, and development vendors to address operational requirements.
• Assist in writing operations procedures, operations plans, and technical documentation for mission systems.
• Monitor operations for issues, anomalies, or concerns and promptly alert the mission director and team.
• Support team activities related to facilities, security, shipping, and logistics by providing role-specific information and assisting as needed.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (required to be considered).
• Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 13 years without the degree.
• Ability to complete mission system-specific training at vendor locations in the United States.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including field sites for system installations, operations and maintenance, and testing.

Desired Skills

• Experience with RF and SATCOM communication technologies and fundamentals.
• Experience with satellite communication networks, equipment, and/or protocols.

Pay

Target salary range: $160,001 – $200,000, based on experience and other factors.
