About the role
The Minister to Students is responsible for youth (7th – 12th grade) and college/career ministries. The goal is to encourage each young person to grow toward Christian maturity through ongoing discipleship. The Minister to Students oversees all aspects of the ministry program relating to youth and their families and performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the accomplishment of the work of the pastorate
- Assist with evangelistic and outreach visitation
- Model and promote a Christ-centered life
- Visit hospitalized as assigned
- Provide Senior Pastor with ministry contact report
- Attend all staff meetings
- Provide crisis ministry support and counseling
- Offer support and counsel to parents of students
- Attend church-wide functions
- Participate in denominational activities as schedule permits
- Attend assigned committee meetings
- Develop relationships by being involved in community youth activities
- Maintain personal spiritual disciplines
- Preach as requested by Senior Pastor
Administrative
- Plan and conduct activities, fellowships, and recreational activities
- Plan and conduct retreats and mission activities
- Train leaders to support ministry programs
- Maintain regular office hours
- Recommend adults to serve as youth Sunday School teachers and workers
- Make recommendations to Church Ministry Team regarding activities and programs
- Propose comprehensive youth budget to Budget Committee
- Plan, organize, and lead a ministry to college students
Education
- Promote and support youth Sunday School ministry
- Coordinate special training events for parents of students
