About the Role

Drives truck and/or operates heavy equipment to transport and unload materials. Receives loading instructions and communicates with plant personnel and the public. Performs maintenance on stationary production machinery, including diagnosing problems and executing mechanical and minor electrical repairs. Uses mobile equipment, hand and power tools, and cutting and welding equipment. Maintains material handling conveyor systems, controls product quality, and inspects for damage. Cleans spilled material from conveyor systems and surrounding areas. Travel to other facilities may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle safety inspections; document and report vehicle condition at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Check all vehicle fluid levels daily and add fluids if necessary.
• Clean the outside of the vehicle to ensure absence of material build-up throughout each shift.
• Assist mechanics in vehicle repair and change tires as necessary.
• Maintain and upkeep of yard, plant, and office areas.
• Operate a flatbed truck, forklift, and overhead crane as needed.
• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental, and other Company policies, procedures, and requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
• One (1) year of experience in plant production and/or operations (experience with manufacturing production methods where automated controls monitor temperatures, pressures, weights, etc., is considered similar).
• Sufficient education to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
• Excellent driving skills and ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations.
• Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions (heat, wet, cold, etc.).
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, pull, push, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds.
• Must be able to work required overtime and a flexible work schedule.
• Must be able to speak, read, and have a working knowledge of the English language.
