Mine Maintenance Mechanic (Shovel & Drill)

Essential Functions

Carryout preventative maintenance on electric shovels and drills.

Carryout repairs on electric shovels and drills which include major component replacement and repair or rebuild.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Availability

Availability to work any shift, including weekends (shifts may be rotating, operations are 24/7/365)

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and more
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weather
• Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels

Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years experience in the maintenance of P&H mining shovels and PV rotary blasthole drills.
• Must understand prints and schematics to repair to OEM specification.
• Good communications skills (oral and written).
