About the role
Perform critical welding, troubleshooting, and maintenance on high-pressure hydraulic systems, industrial machinery, and facilities. Work involves design, fabrication, installation, modification, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment, structures, and piping systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, install, modify, repair, and maintain machines, equipment, structures, and facilities.
- Perform critical welding, including pressure piping, construction, equipment installation, and parts repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair high-pressure hydraulic systems and IOTOV zero-energy systems.
- Interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and civil drawings and schematics.
- Interface with design and engineering personnel to ensure efficient installations, repairs, and equipment documentation integrity.
- Interpret specification sheets and technical literature for mechanical and hydraulic components.
- Mark up prints to reflect current equipment condition.
- Cut, weld, braze, and fabricate tools, materials, and equipment.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance checks, inspections, and repairs.
- Revise and work from prints, piping diagrams, manuals, and specifications, including sanitary codes and ordinances.
- Determine and obtain required materials, tools, and equipment.
- Repair, layout, and install piping systems and associated fixtures; perform automotive and industrial mobile equipment repairs.
- Perform blacksmith work and operate cranes and other power-driven equipment.
- Erect and remove ladders and scaffolding as required.
- Organize and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment for clean, efficient, and orderly operations.
- Paint in conjunction with repair work.
- Operate transportation and material handling equipment as needed.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems to write work orders, log work hours, document equipment condition, and requisition parts.
- Develop, document, write, follow, and improve safe work instructions, procedures, and best practices.
- Use reliability tools and information systems to collect, document, and analyze data and equipment performance to resolve problems to the root cause.
Materials used, processed, and handled
- Machine parts, equipment, buildings, furnaces, structures, vehicles, packing, lubricants, fasteners, replacement parts, mechanical hardware.
- Piping systems: hydraulic, steam, air, water, gas, oil, chlorine, nitrogen, fuel, and sewer lines.
- Component parts: pipe, valves, traps, sumps, cutting and sealing compounds, lead, solder, welding rods, brazing rods, fluxes.
Tools and equipment used
- Machine tools: saws, drill presses, lathes, grinders, bending rolls, punches, shears, brakes.
- Powered hand tools: drills, hammers, wrenches, oil cans, grease guns, threading and tapping tools, heating equipment.
- Lifting and rigging equipment: cranes, industrial trucks, ladders, scaffolding, rigging equipment.
- Measuring devices: micrometers, calipers, gauges, surveyor’s level, tachometers, hand and powered pipe-cutting tools.
- Diagnostic and analytical tools: vibration analysis, balancing and alignment equipment, PLC terminals, computers, maintenance analytical devices.
- Welding and joining equipment: gas, electric, and inert atmosphere welding equipment; manual and automatic welding; brazing and soldering equipment.
Requirements
- Journeyman card (preferred).
- 5–7 years of maintenance or millwright experience.
- Experience with pumps, boilers, welding, bearings, and fabrication.
- Heavy industrial or heavy machinery background.
- Knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures.
- Experience with boom lifts, heavy fork trucks, and other large mobile equipment.
- Availability to work all shifts.
