About the role

Our Waco, TX facility manufactures aluminum beverage cans for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas, and non-carbonated beverages. Using state-of-the-art can-making technology, this high-speed environment offers rewarding manufacturing opportunities. The Millwright, reporting to the Back End Area Manager, is a journeyman-level mechanical specialist responsible for the installation, maintenance, and mechanical integrity of the entire can production line—from the cupper to the palletizer—to ensure the plant's operating capability and sustainability of company equipment.

Responsibilities

• Full-Line Mechanical Installation & Utility Integration
  • Connect power to machines or hydraulic piping for full-line installation or repair.
  • Test units following repair or installation to ensure proper mechanical operation.
  • Read blueprints and technical specifications to precisely install and align machinery using specialized tools like lasers or dial indicators.
  • Operate heavy industrial equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, and basket trucks to move and secure large items.
• Advanced Welding & Fabrication
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
  • Conduct basic structural and sheet metal fabrication to support machine repairs, safety guarding, or structural modifications.
  • Use hand and power tools for mechanical adjustments and custom fabrication.
• Operational Support & Efficiency
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical failures across all production stages to meet client delivery schedules.
  • Apply knowledge of automation standard practices to integrate mechanical repairs with electronic controls.
  • Use SAP and inventory management systems to locate, verify, and report spare parts usage.
  • Identify and report defects in machinery or incoming material that could hinder production.
• Technical & Safety Compliance
  • Follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and regulating access to inventory resources.
  • Maintain awareness of hazards while operating forklifts and working in high-speed areas.
  • Consistently wear required safety equipment such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
• Critical Availability
  • Maintain critical availability (on-call/shift coverage) to respond immediately to high-priority equipment failures in spray or oven areas that halt production or compromise product safety.

Requirements

• Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a journeyman-level millwright in a manufacturing operation.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and demonstrate proactive ownership of issues.
  • Strong mechanical and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities, especially in timing and actuation systems.
  • Willingness and ability to be critically available (on-call/after-hours) for urgent plant-level operational issues.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience maintaining aluminum can internal spray equipment and/or industrial curing ovens.
  • Certification or strong working knowledge of industrial fluid dynamics, process controls, or burner management systems.
  • Experience maintaining equipment in hygienic or food-grade environments.
• Skills
  • Exceptional attention to precision and detail in timing and mechanical setup.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
  • Ability to work with process control variables like temperature, pressure, and flow rates.

Environmental & Physical Factors

The role primarily operates in a warehouse/manufacturing facility with daily contact with other departmental personnel. The position may involve:

• Occasional work in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and around chemicals or chemical fumes.
• Exposure to dusty and clean environments, electrical and mechanical hazards.
• Frequent work with surplus and scrap materials, including outdoor or unconditioned warehouse settings.
• Continuous use of vision, hearing, and speech; frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional bending.
• Lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing up to 50 lbs.
• Climbing stairs, ladders, and using manual dexterity for tools, equipment, and repetitive tasks.
• Wearing safety equipment such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

Schedule

• 12-hour rotating shifts: 4 days on and 4 days off.
• Flexibility required to meet operational demands, including long days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
