About the Role

Join our Clinical Nutrition team as a Milk Lab Technician and make a meaningful impact in patient care. We are hiring per diem and .75 FTE positions.

Responsibilities

  • Reconstitution and fortification of specialized formula
  • Centrifugation and analysis of human milk lipid concentration and caloric density
  • Human milk pasteurization
  • Human milk and formula delivery
  • Medical food and product inventory management
  • Utilization of electronic health record and milk management software
  • Interdisciplinary communication with nursing, Registered Dietitians, medical providers, Dietetic Technicians, and Lactation Consultants
  • Safe cleaning and operation of a variety of biomedical preparation and production equipment
  • Interpretation, implementation, and adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point safety regulations and infection control protocols and policies
  • Provision of customer service to patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with hospital and department expectations
  • Demonstration of understanding of rationale and downstream impacts of work, advocating for responsible and efficient use of resources, including human milk
  • Contribution to developing and updating standard work and providing peer-to-peer feedback to ensure compliance
  • Demonstration of high-level professionalism and problem-solving abilities to ensure accuracy of electronic health records, adequacy of feeding supplies, and timeliness of procedures and production schedules
  • Advocacy for breast milk management that prevents waste
  • Performance of other duties as assigned

Requirements

Associate Degree required OR one of the following credentials may substitute: Dietetic Technician Registered, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Certified Medical Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated prior quality improvement experience in a healthcare position
  • Pediatric or previous hospital experience

Pay

Compensation range: $24.77 - $37.16 per hour. This range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
